The Pebbled Wall - A Barrier

the pebbled wall
 a barrier
from the dyke to the river
the slope of well-placed boulders
the size of beige melons
eroded for hundreds of years
a place to climb down
to green bushes, tall grass, wild flowers
where small white butterflies flutter
and small black birds take flight...
one could trample all this
frighten away the birds
make shoeprints in underbrush mud
before reaching more beige melons
on the banks of the shallow rushing river
 taoist temple behind
